The Gratz College, located on Old York Road, is a private Jewish college. Its origins date back to 1856, making it one of the oldest Jewish learning institutions in the country. When Gratz died in 1857, he had left a trust to establish a college for the education of the Jews within the community. It was officially established in 1895, beginning with lectures and other programs of instruction.
