2 Window Washers Injured In Philadelphia Scaffolding Accident
Two window washers were injured and sent to the hospital after a scaffold line snapped in the Old City section of Philadelphia. The incident occurred at 4th and Walnut streets around 9:20 AM on Thursday, June 22nd. The two workers were knocked off the scaffolding, but were fortunately strapped on so did not fall to the ground below.
One 23-year old male victim suffered cuts to his left arm and right leg, while a 41-year old man had cuts to his face and right arm. The 400 block of Walnut Street was temporarily shut down following the accident.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and Labor & Industries (L&I) have been asked to investigate the incident.
1 Killed, 2 Injured In Philadelphia Car Accident
Two people suffered moderate to severe injuries and one other lost their life in a 2-car accident on the Vine Street Expressway in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 25th.
The accident occurred around 4:45 am Sunday morning on the eastbound side of I-676 near Broad Street. Responding state police officers found a 2004 Saab and 2004 Chevy Tahoe, damaged and blocking traffic in the left and right lanes. A pedestrian was also found lying on the highway with critical injuries.
The pedestrian, the driver of the Saab, and a passenger in the Tahoe were all brought to Hahnemann University Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Saab driver, a 24-year-old man, was treated for serious injuries. The Tahoe passenger, a 29-year-old woman, was treated for moderate injuries.
The accident is currently under investigation.
PECO Worker Electrocuted In Tragic Work Accident In Rosemont
A PECO worker was killed after being electrocuted while responding to a power outage on Wednesday, June 28th in Rosemont, PA.
62-year-old Walter Carter was working on a power line from an elevated bucket around 5 AM when he was electrocuted. A co-worker told a police officer who responded to the scene that Carter was inside the bucket. Fire crews lowered the bucket and found Carter inside and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Carter had worked for PECO for 31 years and is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Truck Driver Crashes Into Montgomery County Home
A truck driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house in Montgomery County on Monday, June 26th. The accident occurred around 5:30 PM in Lower Providence, PA. After losing control of the vehicle, the driver went off the road and crashed into the side of the house. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
