PATCO Service Between South Jersey & Philadelphia Interrupted When Train Strikes Pole
Train service between South Jersey and Philadelphia was disrupted after a PATCO train crashed into an electrical pole near Ferry Avenue Station in Camden on Monday, January 29. After the collision, the pole fell onto the tracks and sent electrical sparks flying. The train accident happened sometime between 5:30 and 6 a.m. 24 people were onboard the train and four of them suffered minor injuries in the accident. Service was delayed through Tuesday morning, and trains ran with a modified schedule.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident.
Montgomery County Accident Shuts Down I-76 Eastbound
The eastbound lane of I-76 was shut down for approximately two hours after an auto accident in Montgomery County on Sunday, January 28 at about 9 p.m. The accident occurred at mile marker 338.6 in Lower Merion. One person was injured in the accident, but there was no information on the extent of their injuries. The closure was between Exit 338: Green Lane/Belmont Avenue and Exit 340A: Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive.
3 People Injured In West Philadelphia Auto Accident
Three people were injured in a car accident in West Philadelphia on the morning of January 27, 2018. The accident involved an SUV and two other vehicles, all of which landed on the curb near the intersection of 58th and Chestnut streets. The injured parties were brought to Penn Presbyterian Hospital for treatment. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
Elderly Woman Struck By Vehicle Outside Of Delaware County Hospital
An 80-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle outside of the Riddle Hospital emergency room entrance in Delaware County on Thursday, January 25. The accident happened at around 1 a.m. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating the accident and no word has been released on the victim’s condition.
