Southeastern Pennsylvania is full of beautiful nature. In Abington Township, Lorimer Park is one of our favorite places to enjoy the natural beauty this region has to offer. This sprawling 230-acre park is full of breathtaking woods and meadows and is a fantastic nature destination during all four seasons. In this day and age, it’s important to make sure we get away from our televisions, computers, and smartphones and out into the wilderness every once in a while. Our Montgomery County personal injury lawyers love visiting Lorimer Park for the following reasons:
Hiking & Biking
Lorimer Park is connected to Northeast Philadelphia’s Pennypack Park, where you can find the famous Pennypack Trail. This 9-mile paved trail is perfect for either hiking or biking amongst some beautiful trees and the gorgeous Pennypack Creek. The trail is shaded, which makes it an ideal place to cool off when the summer sun is beating down. There are also several side trails for you to explore, which run through secluded sections of the woods for a nice quiet excursion during your hike.
Picnics
Lorimer Park is a popular picnicking destination and features a plot with several tables, many of them covered with awnings in case of unexpected rain. There’s always something special about enjoying a good outdoor meal with the family while surrounded by the variety of stunning flora and fauna in this famous park.
Wildlife
With 230 acres of preserved nature, Lorimer Park has long been a popular destination among birdwatchers. Head here and look out for the wide array of different species that call this area home.
If you like to fish, you can do so in the park’s creek.
There is plenty of other wildlife to observe here as well, including deer, chipmunks, squirrels, and other critters that inhabit Pennsylvania woodlands.
Horseback Riding
If you own a horse, we think Lorimer Park is one of the most picturesque areas to go for a ride. You can easily forget that you’re just minutes from one of the largest cities in the country as you ride along under the beautiful, towering trees of the forest.
Sledding & Cross-Country Skiing
Lorimer Park can be just as much fun when the weather is cold. We love coming here right after a fresh snowfall to go sledding with our families. If you’re a fan of cross-country skiing, Lorimer Park is also a popular destination for that. Come here during the winter and enjoy frolicking in the snow with your family, friends, and neighbors.
