In our weekly accident report for the week of September 6th, 2017, we take a look at four serious motor vehicle accidents that occurred in the Philadelphia and Atlantic City metro areas this week.
9 Injured In Philadelphia Block Party Crash
A 22-year old woman is facing criminal charges after crashing her SUV through a block party in South Philadelphia on Monday, September 4th.
Nine people were seriously injured in the incident, including a pregnant woman. According to police, the woman drove around a parked vehicle before driving onto the sidewalk and striking the nine pedestrians. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
The woman has been charged with nine counts of aggravated assault, driving under the influence, and other related offenses.
Accident Involving Montgomery County Highway Workers Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured
A Montgomery County highway worker was killed after being struck by a car while painting road lines near an elementary school in Franconia Township. One other worker was also struck and injured in the crash, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 5th near West Broad Street Elementary School.
The worker who survived remains hospitalized in serious condition. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
1 Killed In Chester County 2-Vehicle Accident Involving A School Bus
The driver of a passenger vehicle was killed in an accident involving a school bus in Chester County. The accident occurred on Route 113 in Uwchlan on the morning of Tuesday, September 5th. Neither vehicle had any passengers at the time of the accident. The driver of the school bus was not injured in the crash.
According to witnesses, the accident happened when the passenger vehicle struck the rear of the school bus, possibly while speeding. The vehicle then ran off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
Route 113 was closed for several hours following the crash. PECO representatives responded to the scene because wires were pulled down in the accident. Police and other crash assistance personnel also arrived to investigate the scene. This car accident is still being investigated by the Uwchlan police force.
Driver Critically Injured In Atlantic County 2-Car Crash
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Atlantic County, New Jersey on Monday, September 4th. The driver of a Jeep Cherokee was traveling west on Route 30 when an F250 pickup truck suddenly turned in front of him. The first driver suffered a head and severe arm injury in the accident and was transported to the trauma unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
Two other people had minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was issued summonses for careless driving, improper turning, and driving with a cracked windshield.
