10 Injured By Airplane Turbulence Before Landing In Philadelphia
Three passengers and seven crew members were taken to the hospital and treated for injuries after experiencing extreme turbulence on a flight from Athens, Greece to Philadelphia. The turbulence was unexpected and occurred shortly before landing. Flight attendants had just handed out drinks, which were flung into the air – covering the ceilings, walls, and floors of the plane with liquid.
It’s believed that these injuries were caused by sudden clear-air turbulence, which allowed for little warning to passengers. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, turbulence caused 44 injuries in 2016, which is more than double the total of 21 reported in 2015.
