Reading Terminal Market is a national treasure and one of Philadelphia’s most popular destinations both for tourists and locals. Our Philadelphia personal injury law offices are less than a mile away, so our lawyers frequently go here on our lunch breaks. Sometimes, we’ll stop by for a quick breakfast on the way into work. Some of our favorite places to grab a bite to eat in Reading Terminal Market include:

Tommy DiNic’s

Known for their legendary roast pork sandwich, Tommy DiNic’s should be near the top of the list for any sandwich-lover visiting or living in Philadelphia. While Philly cheesesteaks may be the city’s best-known sandwichs, a roasted pork with broccoli rabe, provolone, and hot peppers is a close second. DiNic’s version of the roast pork sandwich even won an award for “best sandwich in America” by the Travel Channel.

While the roast pork may be the centerpiece here, there are plenty of other options if that’s not your thing. The roast beef, homemade meatballs, Italian sausage, Italian pulled poker, and brisket are all equally delectable options. If you’re in the city and craving a premium sandwich, don’t limit yourself to cheesesteaks. A cheesesteak experience is important when you visit Philadelphia, but don’t sleep on the equally delicious classic roast pork sandwich.

Dutch Eating Place

Dutch Eating Place is one of our favorite breakfast and lunch restaurants in all of Philadelphia. Classic diner-style food that’s anything but ordinary, served hot and at extremely affordable prices. The word is out on this place, so it may be a challenge to find a seat. It’s diner-style bar service only, with no table seating. We recommend getting there early if you want to take some time to sit and relax with your breakfast, but you can also get your food and coffee to go and enjoy your breakfast at the office. We frequently stop here for our lunch break, as it’s a reasonable walk from our offices.

Some of our favorite dishes at Dutch Eating Place include:

  • Apple Cinnamon French Toast
  • Creamed beef over fresh cut home fries
  • Hot apple dumpling w/ cream
  • Shoo-fly pie w/ whipped cream
  • Grilled Reuben sandwich

Hershel’s East Side Deli

You don’t need to go all the way to New York City for an NYC-style deli sandwich – you can find them right here in Philadelphia at Hershel’s East Side Deli. In a city packed to the brim with delectable sandwich options, Hershel’s is one of the best choices. Their Reuben sandwich is their best-known menu item, but there is plenty of variety here – and the menu extends beyond sandwiches to delicious salads, platters, soups, and more.

Some of our favorite meals at Hershel’s include:

  • Matzo ball soup
  • Potato latkes with sour cream or apple sauce
  • Chicken salad sandwich
  • Corned beef sandwich
  • Pastrami sandwich
  • Brisket sandwich
  • Club sandwich

Meltkraft

If you’re a grilled cheese fan in Philly, you absolutely must make a stop by Meltkraft at the Reading Terminal Market. The menu options here are abundant, offering you the choice of one or more of several specialty sandwiches which use a wide range of cheeses. Some of our favorite options here include:

  • Valley Thunder – 12-month cheddar, brisket, baked macaroni and house cheese
  • Somerset – 12-18 month gruyere, cured ham, pickles, and whole-grain mustard
  • Shepherd Classic – A simple grilled cheese made with three Valley Shepherd 3-month cheeses
  • Brielle – Brie, cranberry chutney, caramelized onions, and pine nuts on brioche
