History Of Whitemarsh Memorial Park

Whitemarsh Memorial Park has been around since 1928 and was originally designed with the concept of only flat markers. This was intended to give the cemetery a park-like appearance.  A French architect named Paul Phillipe Chet assisted with most of the park’s structures, including the entrance fountain, mall boulevards, and the Tower of Chimes. As of 2010, more than 40,000 burials and numerous burials, mausoleum and cremation choices have been conducted here.

Dignity Memorials & Veterans

Whitemarsh is Dignity Memorial provider, who serves more military veterans than any other funeral service provider in the U.S. This makes Whitemarsh an ideal place to pay your last respects to your fallen loved one. Their services for veterans are respectful and dignified, and pay the proper attention to the sacrifices these brave men and women have made.

Some of the features that make Whitemarsh a good choice for a veteran’s funeral include:

  • Veterans’ burial benefits like special pricing for war veterans and American Legion
  • Military funeral honors
  • Programs like the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall and the Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program
  • Veterans Planning Guide
  • Seminars for VFW and American Legion members

Additionally, the Dignity Memorial network acts as the Founding Community Partner for the We Honor Veterans program.

More Than A Cemetary

Whitemarsh Memorial Park may be worth a visit even if you’re not there for a funeral. The grounds are picturesque and highlighted by some beautiful doors, towers, and other architecture. A good place for artists or photographers to visit for inspiration. While it may function as a cemetery, its status as a Memorial Park also makes it a great place to spend time for the living as well.
