Local Heroes Help Injured Car Crash Victims

Surveillance video captured a crash that occurred on Sunday, April 22 around 3 pm in Southwest Philadelphia. At the intersection of 59th Street and Washington Avenue, two vehicles crashed into one another causing an SUV to flip over on its side. The footage shows several people, who were either mostly or all teenagers, running to the aid of those trapped inside the overturned vehicle. They had witnessed the accident and knew they had to help. The teens noticed the vehicle smoking and broke the windows in order to pull a young girl and her mother from inside. The victims of the crash were extremely grateful to these brave teens who came to their rescue and praised them, calling them “heroes.” According to the authorities, there were 2 adults taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and several children taken to Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania. The accident is under investigation.

Car Crashes Into Hair Salon In Allegheny County

A car crash occurred around 7 pm on Tuesday, April 24 in Brentwood, PA. A car driven by a 58-year-old man crashed through a hair salon located inside a shopping complex. The car didn’t stop until it hit the back wall of the building trapping at least 1 victim underneath it. There were 8 people injured in total which includes the man who was driving the vehicle. The driver and 5 other people were found inside the salon and then 2 more injured people were found outside. They were all taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and two victims were listed in critical condition. Authorities state that the accident is under investigation but that it appeared to be either alcohol or medical related.

Woman Charged With DUI After Causing Fatal Car Accident

A 37-year-old woman from Warminster, PA has been charged with several offenses including aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and homicide by vehicle while DUI. According to authorities, on April  7, the woman was driving on Street Road in Upper Southampton when she crossed a center turn lane hitting an SUV. Both vehicles were damaged and the woman was trapped in the vehicle. When responders came to her aid she did not tell them that her 8-year-old son was in the back seat. When responder found him, he was rushed to Abington Hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He died from his injuries on April 10. The woman’s hearing is scheduled for May 10 and her bail is set at $100,000.
