One Person Dies In Accident Involving An Overturned Tractor-Trailer
On Saturday, April 28, a tractor-trailer that was carrying watermelons overturned near the Walt Whitman Bridge on I-95. Some of the load of watermelons spilled onto the highway and one struck another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that was struck lost control and ran off the road stopping against the guardrail. The driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be cut free. He was then taken to Jefferson Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The debris from the accident covered a large portion of the road and two lanes of traffic needed to be shut down on I-95 as well as Exit 19. The accident is being investigated.
Motorcyclist In An Accident On I-95
A 23-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on I-95 on Saturday, May 5 underneath the Ben Franklin Bridge when he hit a pothole. After hitting the pothole he lost control of his vehicle and hit the guardrail. He sustained severe head trauma in the accident and was taken to the hospital where he later died from the injuries.
Boy Dies In Tragic Accident
On Tuesday, May 8, a 2-year-old boy ran out into the street in front of a box truck which was traveling north on Lynwood Ave. in Hamilton Township. The truck struck the boy who was then taken to the hospital for treatment. He later died. The boy’s mother was seriously injured and is reportedly devastated. Police have not filed any charges against the driver of the truck but are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them as they continue their investigation.
